Cosmetics With Essential Oils For Men – 3 Great Homemade Recipes

Hey there, manly oilers. I have been silent for a long time, and a post with a few natural homemade cosmetics with essential oils for men is well overdue. Some essential oils typically have male aromas, woody, and musky scents… There is everything we need out there to satisfy our needs and refined noses.

Most people reading about essential oils are women, but here at Man Versus Oils, we are almost at parity. Hoorah! Thank you all for being here. There is a reason why women are more into essential oils; they love to go natural. Let’s be honest; most of the time, a lady has been around to convince us to be more careful with what we use and ingest. It’s definitely my case. Thank you my Love, for showing me the healthy path of essential oils.

As we talked about it before, Men, as well, have everything to gain by going natural with essential oils. Cosmetics available on the market are too often full of unnecessary and harmful chemicals: parabens, coal tar, formaldehyde, synthetic fragrance, sodium lauryl, and petroleum, to name a few of them. All of them, with prolonged use, could have a devastating effect on the body. It’s so difficult to find natural cosmetics for men; it becomes easier to do it ourselves.

Being away from the keyboard for a while, I would like to go easy with three simple recipes based on essential oils with male aromas: a perfume for young men, a winter moisturizing cream for men, and an aftershave lotion. Let’s get to it!

3 natural cosmetics recipes with essential oils for men

For each of these recipes, you can change the essential oils to create your own aroma. Feel free to experiment with smaller quantities to find what works best for you.

The process to make perfume is easy. Just make sure you pick good quality essential oil.

  • 10% Atlas cedar essential oil
  • 10% Sandalwood essential oil
  • 5% Vetiver essential oil
  • 75% of Isopropyl Alcohol 70%

Procedure: Mix everything in a spray or perfume bottle and shake very well. The main idea is to keep a ratio of 1/4 essential oils and 3/4 of alcohol. You can then play with different oils to create your own scent.

Tip: To fix the fragrance, you can finish with a few drops of Clary Sage. Leave for several days before using.

How to make a moisturizing and protective winter cream with essential oils for men?

Surprisingly, the most challenging part of the recipe is finding a good natural unscented cream. Here is a suggestion for a fragrance-free body cream.

In a 2 oz jar of natural unscented cream, add:

  • 12 drops of Sandalwood essential oil
  • 8 drops of Atlas Cedar essential oil
  • 5 drops of Frankincense essential oil
  • 5 drops of Vetiver essential oil

Mix well the essential oils and the cream, and it’s ready! That gives you a cream with 1% essential oil. This recipe is for a 2 oz jar. Keep the proportion for a different size. If you prefer a more spicy scent, you can add more essential oils, but be careful to don’t overdo it.

How to make a homemade aftershave lotion with essential oils

Many aftershave lotions available on the market contain unhealthy and irritating chemicals. One of the solutions is to make our own aftershave lotion.

The tricky part is to keep it naturally invigorating and astringent. Astringent is not a bad word. For those unsure about what it means, it’s the effect of shrinking the human tissues. When shaving, the hot water opens the pores; the astringent helps close them, reducing the stinging and the risk of infection. Most of the time, the astringent agent used in aftershave is alcohol, which can be harsh on the skin for some of us. The best natural alternative is Witch Hazel water; here is a recipe with it as a foundation.

Procedure: Pour the ingredients into a bottle and shake vigorously. If possible, leave for four days so that the different substances amplify their effects by synergy. As usual, with essential oil products, keep them in cool places and protected from light. Shake before use.

Use: This product for men can be used as an astringent as well as an aftershave. It will leave the skin fresh and clean.

Conclusion

And there it is, finally, after a long absence. It’s only three recipes, but they concern all of us and can be adapted with the essential oils of our choice. Try them. Personalize them. Then, let me know what you think. Do you have any cosmetics recipes that you are already using? If so, please do not hesitate to comment below

Anyway, as usual, and until next time

Have fun
