10 Best Christmas Diffuser Recipes for Men

Annnddd we are back! I hope you made it unscathed through my previous post on the science behind essential oils. I know it was a heavy one. So in light of the fact that it is December and our house looks like it has vomited Christmas, I thought I would get into the spirit between now and then and keep it light and festive. And whilst I busily research all of the chemical-free gifts of goodness you can purchase for your family, friends and special someones, I have come up with my 10 best Christmas diffuser recipes for men * to get you into the spirit. 10 Best Christmas Diffuser Recipes for Men. candy cane * Full disclosure – a few of them are probably not that manly, but if your house is anything like mine, the fact that you have even made an effort to get into the Christmas spirit should get the season off to a good start at the very least! As always, please feel free to tweak these as you see fit to adjust the man-smells to your liking – go on… You know you want to…

My list of the 10 best Christmas diffuser recipes for men

1 – Candy Cane

I have started with this one as in my experience, these little sugary treasures of minty goodness are usually the first sign that all things Christmas are about to descend upon us. Mix 3 drops Peppermint 2 drops Stressaway Result Yep, smells like a candy cane! Note: StressAway Essential Oil Blend can be substituted for the Vanilla Essence for a more calming aroma.

2 – Merry Merry

Christmas Presents
It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas… and this is the perfect Christmas aroma – put it on when wrapping the presents.  Hang on… we wrap presents? I thought they came like that… Mix 3 drops Idaho Balsam Fir 2 drops Grapefruit 2 drops Frankincense Result I have to admit that I thought this was a bit of a weird mixture but waddayaknow… It really smells like Christmas.

3 – Gingerbread House

After all, it’s not Christmas without Gingerbread… Mix
Gingerbread House
4 drops Ginger 2 drops Clove 1 drop Cinnamon Bark Result I love this one in the mornings with a nice hot coffee. I know I can draw some fairly long bows with some of my aromatic descriptions, but this one is the real deal!

4 – Spiced Cider

I know I have used this one before, but it is a Christmas list after all… Add some Nutmeg if you would prefer and we can call it Eggnog! Mix 5 drops Ginger 4 drops Orange 1 drop Cinnamon Bark Result Ginger is also very beneficial as a calming agent – perfect for when all of those fantastic, wonderful and carefree family members arrive to eat you out of house and home.

5 – Stuffed Roast

Ok, now I just getting lazy – another repeat from our manly list.  However, it is a time when ovens all over the world are filled with a plethora of baked meaty goodness (and maybe a few vegetables for good measure). So I also stand by this one as being a worthy participant in our Christmas list – a manly participant at that! Mix 6 drops Rosemary 4 drops Sage 2 drops Thyme 1 drop Black Pepper Result I still reckon you can smell the chicken – or turkey – in this one too. If you live in the southern hemisphere where it is just too hot to be bothered with a big baked dinner for Chrissy lunch, then put this on to make that warm lettuce and soggy tomato taste just a little better…

6 – Pumpkin Pie

Speaks for itself I think. Mix 4 drops Cardamom 2 drops Cinnamon Bark 2 drops Clove 1 drop Nutmeg Result Yep, good one – if not a little strong. This one might work really well with a little lime added just to break up the heaviness of the Clove and Cinnamon!

7 – Christmas Cake

It’s not Christmas without Christmas Cake (or pudding)… Mix 3 drops Thieves from Young Living 2 drops Grapefruit Result Now, I am personally not a huge fan of Thieves running solo in the diffuser, but add a bit of Grapefruit and it suddenly smells just like nana’s kitchen. You could also play with a little Orange, Cinnamon or Nutmeg here if you were feeling really nostalgic.

8 Christmas Tree

10 Best Christmas Diffuser Recipes for Men. Christmas tree
This one is a must for those of you who live in a country where real pine trees are not the norm. Put this one into the diffuser as you are dusting and untangling the good ole’ fake plastic tree! Mix 2 drops Pine 2 drops Cedarwood 5 drops Idaho Blue Spruce 2 Drops Cypress Result Close your eyes and you are in a pine forest, kicking the snow and thinking of that spiced cider waiting for you at home. A little Lemon, Lime and/or Grapefruit may also work well within this recipe. And if like me you have the “when can we put the Christmas tree up?” discussion from about September each year, then this little recipe might just buy you a little time – or make it worse… hmmm, will keep you posted.

9 – Winter Fire

10 Best Christmas Diffuser Recipes for Men. Christmas fire
For those of you in the northern hemisphere where the days are short and cold – this is the perfect recipe to put on your best Christmas woolly jumper (preferably the one grandma knitted for you) and snuggle up in front of the fire with that special someone. Mix 3 drops Orange 2 drops Cinnamon Bark 1 drop Clove Result A very warm and toasty recipe! Although it does have a bit of that Christmas cake, eggnog type aroma to it so make sure some snacks are nearby!

10 – Summer Garden

And for those of you in the southern hemisphere where those lovely Christmas carols are overrun by the sound of crickets in the trees and you could launch a boat in the amount of sweat rolling off your body, grab a cold drink and load this one into the diffuser. Mix 2 drops Basil 3 drops Bergamot 2 drops Orange Result A fresh cooling aroma that will fill the house with a smell reminding you of those late summer evenings on the back porch as you dreamed of the presents good old Santa was about to deposit under that awesomely decorated plastic tree!

Want a little piece of man-vice? Write these down and just happen to leave them around for the better half to see. Trust me, anything you can do to show that you have a complete and undeterred interest and enthusiasm for all things Christmas has to be a good thing. I personally intend to try and use this as an excuse for not having to go to the dreaded shopping center for those last minute must-have festive items. After all, if I went I wouldn’t be able to have the diffuser really roaring for her when she gets home all hot and bothered would !? – let me know below how you went with this! Until next time… have fun – oh, and keep an eye out for my next post for those chemical-free gift ideas… after all, time is running out! Paul

  1. Great post friend! I will be sharing and pinning! I love seeing the different combos for my diffuser.Have a great day and thanks a lot!

I have a question . . . I heard that you shouldn’t use citrus oils in your diffuser. I guess it must depend on the diffuser?

    • Hi Lok, citrus oils are fine in a diffuser and used in a lot of recipes.  There are however risks with some citrus when it comes to pets – mainly cats.  If you have any pets I would consider carefully thier use.  Thanks for your comments.

  2. Hello Paul,

Living in Europe I have always used a diffuser to keep my house smelling fresh during the periods where the windows and doors are sealed to keep the heating bills low. I found it important to change the air out regularly however the infusers add are a substantial improvement on the home in winter.

The only struggle I have encountered is to prevent the different oils from mixing between uses. There is always some residual oil left over, do you perhaps have any tips for neutralizing them before trying the new one?

    • Hi Rich – To be honest I don’t think there is a real trick.  We tip out any left over liquid (we try to avoid this wherever possible) and wipe with a paper towel.  But I will do some more research and post soon.

  4. I most recommend your post!

what really got me here among all the 10 christmas diffuser recipes is the Pumpkin Pie. it’s really  one of the christmas recipes.

it is a rich, spicy pie that slices well and has a bright pumpkin

flavor… Let me throw light on How  mine is always unique after i might have prepared it;  mix the filling together a day in advance to give the spices a chance to blend, and be sure to remove the pie from the oven while the center is still wobbly; overcooking it will cause the filling to crack. So, with this, one will come up with a well reserved pumpkin pie.

And also i must recommend your site. well fascoinating, well structured.

    Nice one!
